Correctly composed tasks in labyrinths help develop empathy (conscious empathy) and self-confidence in children. For example, in labyrinths for children 4-5 years old you need:

  • help a lost kitten find its mother;
  • save the fish from the shark by finding the shortest way to the hideout.

For children of three years old, even the simplest “wire” labyrinths can have an interesting meaning. For example, run your finger along the path using paint. Let the color path remain on the paper.

How to diversify the game

The essence of labyrinths, of course, is one. But you can come up with additional tasks and non-standard forms of their implementation.

1. If you need to find several paths in the maze, you should offer the child:

  • paint them with different colors;
  • mold with plasticine;
  • top with grits or pasta.

So a simple game will turn into a creative activity, and a picture into a craft.

2. Children 6-7 years old are already orientated in labyrinths with many intersections, turns and dead ends. In this case, you can ask the child to trace the route not with a pencil or finger, but only with his eyes. This is great for training the eye and concentration.

3. If the child is right handed, have the left hand draw the route line. This exercise activates the right hemisphere well.

4. Labyrinths are not only made of paper, but also sewn from fabric with shreds, buttons, braid and other elements. Such a bright and tactile (associated with the feeling of touch) option will be especially interesting for babies.

5. Children 8-10 years old should be offered labyrinths with parallel tasks and questions. You can embed educational elements in mathematics, speech development, and the world around you into the game. For example, when “seeing off” a girl to school, a child can:

  • help her fold the necessary textbooks and notebooks;
  • count their number;
  • name the types of trees that met on the way;
  • determine the time it takes to get to school, etc.

6. If the game takes place in a company or in a group of children in kindergarten, a competition can be organized and held. Playing for speed will not only complicate the task, but also motivate you to come first.

The division of labyrinths into difficulty levels is rather conditional. In the simplest version, the hero needs to find the right path and not get into a dead end. In labyrinths it is more difficult, besides finding the right and shortest path, you need to collect some items (flowers, mushrooms, treasures, etc.). The most difficult is the level where the hero is in danger, and if he falls into a trap, he starts the passage of the labyrinth from the starting position.

Colored and black and white, with one route option and with several … Try different mazes and look at the reaction of the child, how he copes with the tasks. If it’s easy, offer more complex options. If a child chooses the wrong route, comes to a dead end and gets upset, you can turn a failure into a victory. For example, comment: “Great! You found a path that you don’t have to take. Well done!”

Labyrinths are the first puzzles that a child meets. He will definitely solve them with interest, playing and developing.
