There are six face types

  • Oval. Characteristic feature: the forehead is usually the widest part of the oval of the face. People with an oval face usually have a rounded jaw line.
  • Round. Characteristic feature: with soft features and a wide hairline. The cheekbones are the widest part of a round face, and the forehead and jaw line are about the same width;
  • Square. Characteristic feature: square faces are characterized by a wide hairline and an angular jawline. The forehead, cheekbones and jaw line are approximately the same width. The length of the face is the same as the width.
  • Rectangular. Characteristic feature: the rectangular shape of the face is a variation of the square shape. The length of the face is greater than the width. The forehead, cheeks and jawline are usually about the same width.
  • Heart shape. Heart-shaped faces usually have a thin, narrow chin. The cheekbones are the widest part of the face.
  • Rhomboid. This is a kind of heart shape. It is defined by a sharp chin and high cheekbones. The owners of diamond-shaped faces usually have a narrow forehead.

How to determine the shape of the face

How to choose a hat for a woman

There are several ways in which this can be done.

Method number 1. Using a measuring tape

Tip: before you start, gather your hair back and remove it from your forehead. You must see the whole face. Measuring the shape of the face takes place in four steps:

  • forehead width. Measure across your forehead at its widest point. Do this from one hairline to another;
  • cheekbone width: measure from the hairline above the cheekbones to the same location on the other side of the face;
  • jaw line width: start at the base of the jaw (under the ears). Measure the distance along the edge of the jaw to the middle of the chin. Continue measuring the other side, or simply multiply this number by two;
  • Face Length: Start measuring at the center of your hairline and guide it all the way down until it reaches the tip of your chin.

Method number 2. Visual

Look at yourself in a mirror or take a photo of yourself looking directly at the camera. There are key signs by which you can determine the type of face.

  • Signs of an oval face type: an elongated face with a barely noticeable narrowing to the chin. Signs of a round face type: it is wider without narrowing and sharp contours.
  • Signs of a triangular face type: a sharp chin and a wide forehead.
  • Signs of a square face type: a large jaw without sharpening to the chin.

What hats are suitable for different types of faces

round face type

Solution: Balance the fullness of a round face with hats that have some angularity, such as a mid-brimmed, teardrop-shaped fedora. High hats also help elongate the face, and the jagged brim contrasts with its symmetrical shape. Try wearing a hat tilted forward to play with proportions. Choose caps and hats that visually lengthen it with plenty of volume at the top.
